Polypropylene (PP) is suitable for applications in the food industry and in the pharmaceutical industry since it is physiologically inert. Polypropylene is resistant to fats and almost all organic solvents, with the exception of strong oxidising agents. Non-oxidising acids and alkalis can be stored in containers made from PP.
The operating temperature is a maximum of 110 °C. At the same time, polypropylene is impermeable to UV light, but it does age under UV radiation. PP plays an important role in the delivery of UV coatings. Another advantage: Polypropylene is more cost effective to procure than PE, for example.
